About the object

The Wizard (NGC 7380) in Cepheus lies about 7,200 light years away. A cavity has formed around a young star cluster, its edges shaped by dark dust fingers. The colours are in the Hubble palette – different gases (hydrogen, oxygen, sulphur) are mapped to different colours so they can be told apart; the eye would not see them like this.
