About the object

On 12 August 2026 the Moon's shadow crossed Greenland, Iceland and Spain. From central Europe the eclipse was partial and took place in the evening, low above the horizon. Besides the Moon's dark disc, this hydrogen-alpha image shows filaments and active regions in the Sun's chromosphere.
