About the object
The Crescent (NGC 6888) in Cygnus lies about 5,000 light years away. At its centre is the Wolf-Rayet star WR 136, whose fierce stellar wind sweeps up material it shed earlier. The faint blue outer shell glows in the light of ionised oxygen.
