About the object

The Jellyfish (IC 443) in Gemini is a supernova remnant about 5,000 light years away. The shock wave from the explosion is still ploughing into the surrounding interstellar gas, making it glow in fine filaments. Its age is estimated at thousands to tens of thousands of years.
