Saturn, 18 November 2025

The rings almost edge-on – a thin line across the planet.

About the object

Saturn orbits the Sun about once every 29 years. Twice per orbit the Earth passes through the plane of its rings, and for a while they appear as a thin line because they are only tens of metres thick.
