Globular cluster pair (M 53, NGC 5053)

Two ancient star cities side by side, each completely different.

About the object

M 53 and NGC 5053 are globular clusters in Coma Berenices, roughly 58,000 and 57,000 light years away. Although close together in the sky, M 53 is dense and bright while NGC 5053 is one of the loosest globular clusters in our Galaxy.
